Kool Health Weekly Digest: Jet-Setting, Zeitgebers, and Superfood Dreams Week of March 22, 2024
Whatup KH Krew,
I just got back from South Florida last night, and boy, that turbulence was rough.
If you sit next to me you will see me drop the occasional Hail Mary and attempt to repent all my sins.
Anyway, while I was in Miami shooting some content and hanging out at Miami Music Week, I was loathing all the poor sleep. SO MUCH TO DO IN ME YUMMY. (Aka Miami)
(Watching that boy Flavio cook up Cameron Noorie)
Miami is an hour ahead, and although it doesn't seem like much, you can feel the lag.
Here's what I did to adjust my circadian rhythm
Morning sun once the sun rises (Around 7:30 am)
Movement (yoga, tai chi) (15 minutes)
Grounding in the grass
I ate early, around 9 am (usual time in Dallas is 11 am)
Coffee after that (Organic hot coffee)
Boom!
It only took two days, and I was in the mix, waking up at 6 am in Florida like a champ.
My work doesn't start until 9 am Central Time, so I was balling until 10 am, hanging out with my dog (who I miss so much) and being at the beach.
Speaking of the Beach, Here Are Some Quick Tanning Tips:
Eat lots of healthy saturated fats and antioxidants for internal sunscreen
Use a zinc or mineral-based sunscreen; no Banana Boat or banana anything (tallow is a great option as well)
Don't turn into a tomato; stay out until you start to feel hot on the skin (that's my cue)
Rest well, and that tan will come on strong
Store of the Week
While I was in Miami, there was only one store I dreamed of going to. Imagine a store that has all the amazing biohacking supplements, foods, and books in one place.
Also, imagine superfood smoothies, biohacked açaí bowls, and organic everything.
That place is Sunlife Organics.
(Pictured: Jenny rocking the Keto Power Shake. Ketone brahhhh!!!)
The Owner
The owner is Khalil Rafati, and he is the absolute bomb.
He used to be a hardcore drug addict living on the streets for years, but by the grace of God, he pulled out of it and now has a superfood smoothie bar called Sunlife Organics.
And it's not just any smoothie bar; he really is a biohacker.
Remember to bring your pocketbook because health can be easy, but the fun stuff is expensive.
Billion Dollar Bowl
He has an açaí bowl called the Billion Dollar Bowl, which is superfood-loaded with an açaí base, grass-fed whey protein, colostrum, resveratrol, tocotrienols, a sprouted paleo granola mix, fruit, goji berries, bee pollen, spirulina, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Here's a pic:
If you live in Dallas like me, you can go to a store in Austin (worth the trek).
If you live in Chicago, Las Vegas, Malibu, Miami, or Bee Cave (Austin), you're in luck.
Just remember the pocketbook! 😊
Smoothie of the Week
Keto Power Shake I had the Keto Power Shake from Sunlife Organics in the morning, which consisted of coconut meat, MCT oil, grass-fed whey, a trace mineral blend, almond butter, vanilla extract, and a boatload of ice.
Super simple yet sooo good.
Also, the base was cold brew, so I was geeking like the Energizer Bunny.
(Keto Power Shake to the right) Yes I am Jenny
Supplement of the Week
Sunlife Organics also sells a bunch of products and supplements in their stores; it's like Candyland for a biohacker.
I found an awesome sleep product called Nightcap made by Juna.
These kick-ass gummies are a full-spectrum blend of sleep-supporting nutrients, herbs, and amino acids.
Per serving, it's got:
200mg of GABA, which helps quiet the excitatory neurotransmitters
L-theanine, which helps promote relaxation and sleep
Chamomile extract from tea
Tart cherry powder, which helps with your internal melatonin production
Phytomelatonin, which is derived from plants and helps you produce your indigenous production
The bottle says one gummy, no sugar, and they use allulose, which is low-glycemic and acts like a prebiotic in the body, so it's a massive sleep support and helps gut bacteria.
I'm IN!
I took 2 around 11 pm once I got off the plane last night, and once I got home, I was out like a light. I even forgot to put on my eye mask and mouth tape, which is rare for me.
This stuff is a game-changer; try it out! I will try to get us discount codes.
Workout of the Week
Strengthening the Back Line For March, I've been focusing on strengthening my back line - the muscles that go from the top of your head down the back, hamstrings, and ankles.
It's all the muscles in your back, and it aids wonders in posture, and breathing, helping you look sexy, giving you a nice booty, and making your abs pop.
I've been focusing on:
Hex bar deadlifts
Kettlebell swings
Backline warmup
Hip thrusts (recently added)
Let me tell you, I feel strong, my bedroom game is getting better, and I can sit up straight, back muscles popping and the booty jaw-dropping;)
Truly a game-changer.
Closing Thoughts
I love this project with all my heart and love helping every one of you. '
Please don't be afraid to ask anything if you would like me to write about something or want any private coaching.
Until next week, Kool Health
