I have never had gut problems, so take this with a pinch of salt if you want. I drink aloe vera juice every day (first thing in the morning before anything) 120ml and have done since 2009. Result? I'm never sick (touch wood!). Is it because of aloe? Is it because I'm naturally calm? Is it because I can sleep through anything? Who knows? As I said, I'm not sure it is the aloe, but I'm not stopping to find out.
Yes, if it diluted with something like coconut oil and olive oil. The oil helps encapsulate it, so it won’t burn and it potentiates all of the polyphenol and plant compounds found in the essential oils. I love living libations, they make the best oil pull! Let me know if this helps.
Also try kefir and kombucha. Both are very cheap and u can do them yourselves at home then they brew and ferment to your unique environment. Makes a HUGE difference.
Kristy these are amazing and necessary points!!! I love kefir and kombucha, thank you so much for this comment❤️ I love sheep kefir, what’s your favorite kind?
I ordered some grains and I just feed it whole milk. I don’t really know of anyone I could get raw milk from. We can definitely tell a difference in how we feel. I got a guy at work hooked on it and he has Parkinson’s, he’s had amazing results. ❤️
https://frankiesfreerangemeat.com is my go-to source for raw dairy—pasture-raised, organic, and hands down some of the tastiest and healthiest I’ve ever tried.
Are you familiar with Amish Amos Miller? He ships his amazing raw milk nationwide. Miller is in PA - he's battling the government who's harassing him. His organic products are superb. Big AG wants to shut him down.
In South Carolina I buy raw milk, freeze it and share it with my family in other states. I'm HOOKED on raw milk! Unfortunately in Florida the farmers aren't allowed to sell raw milk so we work around big dairy Commies 😉
How does the raw milk do frozen? Defrosts and is not all broken up?
I have to travel an hour (round trip 2 hours) to get raw milk, and used to do it regularly till it got too complicated. So I tried freezing the milk and didn't care for the texture post factum defrost.. Any tip?
Freezing it is totally fine! One thing I’ve noticed is that when I freeze it, it often turns yellow—don’t worry, that’s just the B12 molecules freezing, since B12 has a naturally yellow hue.
If it’s fresh, you can freeze it, then let it defrost naturally for a day or two, and it should be good to go. Just let it do its thing!
have you seen the study where weston price gave equatorian tribes Hershey's, coke Fanta and cheetohs, then measured their microbiome and nothing changed? The reason why is because we have photoreceptors in our gut. Thats where most dopamine is produced. Those photoreceptors rely on something called POM-C. It stands for pro opio melano cortin. its both on and inside your skin and your gut lining. Melano is primary and is short for melanin which is completely black. That's what youre puking up the first time you get alcohol poisoning. Anyway most people who get leaky guy, poop breath ect dont get a lot of high intensity on their sun; so this hormone produced in the fat of your skin called leptin gets dysregulated by non native EMF and blue light. IE nighttime digital tech. The effects of this being the POM-C pathways in your body, brain and eyes don't work anymore and cant pull the melanin from your skin into your gut, brain, ears eyes or muscles. Those little brown liver spots or cafe olay spots old people get are examples of melanin being pulled out of the nerves of your skin to get repigmented. In other words your micro biome is controlled by your environment. specifically your light environment. This is the root of the issue and a permeant solution.
Yeah the whole story is basically the natural uncentralized version inherent in our dna, having sculped by our environment, and the last 125 years of living indoors courtesy of the electric power grid has essentially put us on an alien planet we are only now adapting to, eg; autism MS Parkinson's psychiatric disorders ect. The mammalian biological story is essentially a thermodynamic one told to our DNA by light water and magnetism. The guy who sorted all the formerly missing pieces is a neuro surgeon and coming out of biological paradigm by dropping 150 pounds in a year by reconstructing and applying the conditions that activate superhuman abilities of the mt everest sherpas in his native environment. All the science sources and experiments are gone over here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln3WszTq0uA I independently discovered and applied a lot of the stuff you and the guy in this podcast mention having found myself in a similar condition of disrepair you described in your article. Id say what youre talking about is fun and cool but the importance of POM-C can not be overstated.
Tanks for taking the time and effort to share all this 😊 I can relate to doing wild stuff because of poor gut health 😂 (Like taking 100mg of iodine per day).
I was doing many things you described, but many of my biggest issues remained. Turns out I’m histamine intolerant, so all those super healthy foods like bone broth, kimchi, kombucha, beef stew, cod liver oil, etc. cause flare ups for me. The list of symptoms is crazy (migraines, joint pain, vomiting, constipation, rashes, hot flashes, dizzy spells, ringing ears).
I’m wondering how to fix it because I know it’s caused by poor gut health (the small intestine releases the DAO enzyme that breaks down histamine) but most foods that heal the gut trigger more histamine reactions (= inflammation). I’m considering supplementing with DAO for a while to give my body a chance to recover. Though I heard that the underlying cause of the issue is a deregulation of the nervous system. The brain thinks its unsafe, so is constantly in fight-or-flight mode, and releases more histamine than is necessary. So the best thing I can do is rewiring my brain to calm down my nervous system. Until my brain no longer thinks all those foods are a threat.
Ruth, this is so impactful. When you mentioned histamine intolerance, I immediately thought about quercetin to help with the inflammatory response. But you’re right—what is the root cause? Nervous system dysregulation is an interesting perspective. Maybe it’s connected to the microbiome. I’d love to speak more about this and learn from you!
Yeah, I’ve recently started taking Quercetin but it’s a bit early to tell if it’s making a difference. I read it takes about two weeks before you start noticing change. As I understand it, the nervous system lies at the core of the issues. So, the weak microbiome is a result of too much stress and the histamine issue is a result of the weak microbiome. Kind of like a domino effect.
Thank you for this! I love taking quercetin anytime I’m eating high-histamine foods like dried meats, roasted nuts—basically, a whole cheese board. It helps so much!
Quercetin also has some really cool longevity benefits, especially for the gut and nervous system. Highly recommend looking into it more!
I’ve been taking quercetin for a month now but I didn’t notice very significant differences. But it’s possible that I’m being impatient 😋 Or maybe I’m missing another nutrient. What has helped me a lot is magnesium bisglycinate 😁 I also think I need more vitamin D. We have very little sun here in Europe in winter 😅 And the humidity is definitely triggering more reactions for me.
There’s no real cure for this other than to abstain from these foods or drastically reduce the amount you eat. There are some supplements like hysta-response from PuRE and Quercetin for improvement, but it won’t change the heightened response our body has to these foods.
I heard the best way to change how your body responds is to focus on your nervous system. The reason why your body overreacts is because you’re stuck in flight or fight mode so when you fix that your body’s reactions also calm down. How much of that is true I would need to research more.
Bone broth sets my gut off I ve tried over and over again to use organic bone broth in vegetarian chili or home made soup or in cooking spinach. It seems to set off a reaction in my intestines
Yeah, for now I don’t take bone broth anymore. Recently I found new research on histamines and metabolism in general (from the Substack “Fundamental Nourishment”), and I discovered that histamines themselves are not the problem but rather an imbalance in the functions of the body. In short, there’s a lack of cellular energy and the liver and other organs are overwhelmed with all the tasks. That’s why histamines and other substances can cause triggers because the body is not able to process them. Now I’m focusing on improving my energy levels by eating nutrient-dense, easy to digest foods and I’m already noticing improvement. I can consume more “histamine foods” without triggering allergies. And I think magnesium (bisglycinate), vitamin D and E, and calcium play a big role as well because they are necessary for making the DAO enzyme, which helps break down histamines. That’s my current understanding of it anyway 😊
Hi, Ruth! To calm my nervous system down, I bought The Workout Witch’s 5 bundle course, From Pain to Power. It’s an online course that provides you with a series of somatic exercices. Have you ever heard of them? If not, they’re specifically conceived to release your trauma from the body (there’s this book, The Body Keeps the Score, that explains better how this stress-body relationship works).
I assume that I’ve never finished the course because the last part of it is to make your now relaxed body stronger, and I was too lazy. But you buy it once and you have access even to the new versions for the rest of your life.
I swear that only the relaxation on the first day changed my digestion radically!
Also, I’ve always been very sedentary (I’m working in that too). Still, I managed to make somehow the exercices becaaaaauuuuse, the “teacher” herself advice us ✨to make them on your bed✨ they don’t take longer than 20min a day to complete. On your bed.
I LOVE IT, totally recommend!
(Again, it didn’t SOLVE all my gut issues but it helped amazingly!!!! I don’t feel like vomiting anymore after eating and I have a lot more energy!)
Great article. I learned the hard way that you also need labs that show what’s happening in your specific body. I had hidden bacterial infections in my gut and multiple unknown food allergies (to a lot of healthy whole foods) forcing my gut to create antibodies all day. None of my regular physicians caught these issues.
I absolutely love the DUTCH Test. It’s an incredible tool for identifying the root causes of hormonal imbalances in the body. Unlike standard blood tests that capture just a single moment in time, the DUTCH Test maps your hormone levels over a full 24-hour cycle, providing a much more comprehensive view. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to get to the bottom of their hormone health.
I ordered mine through The Wellness Way, then scheduled a phone consultation with a doctor in their network to review the results with me. I took two additional labs based on what she saw, so I recommend having a doctor tell you which additional labs you need, if any. Excited you’re taking this test! It truly saved my life.

You can put peppermint oil/thyme oil/tea tree oil in your mouth?

It would be super beneficial to the lining of the gut, having a protective and healing effect. smart.
100% spot on!!! Thanks for your support❤️
Waoo thanks
According to the state of California, aloe vera is a carcinogen, fyi
Where do you get it from? A lot of them have sugar in them.

100% true. Labs are essential for really pinpointing the root cause. That’s a great idea for an article too!
Hope you’re doing well, Spurgeon—thanks for the support! ❤️
Have you heard of the DUTCH test? That was the first lab that gave me answers. Highly recommend.

A very comprehensive article i agree with most of it, which is rare. Only thing i would change is Stevia. It will disorganize your hormones, it was traditionally used as a method of birth control. Because it disregulates both males and females. As far as i know the disregulation is hard to fix and will be passed down the generations, it has epigenetic effects. The other thing is, clean your mouth before drinking water in the morning. Good for you for mentioning Oil pulling. I am glad not to feel alone in the wilderness.

I have been a herbalist since 1991. I have forgotten more than most people ever know. I study the entire history of the use of any substance on every continent i can. It used to be much harder, before computers. But i notice a lot of information is actually missing from the internet. Like the stuff about stevia. more of it goes missing every day. of course it does, because we live in a dis-empowering system, anything that empowers US is a threat to it and will tend to vanish. try getting a copy of the yellow emperors handbook for married couples. i read the whole thing. the internet does not think it exists. yet i held it in my hands.

Extremely interesting. But I don’t have a microbiome because I have to take tablets that destroy my immune system. Nothing can survive them. So my problem with my guts had to be sorted slightly differently.
Don’t eat ultra processed food. It’s disgusting and full of sugar, salt and things like coal, ground up very small. It makes you fat because you just can’t stop eating it (by design). If a product has more than about 20 ingredients on the back of the packet, don’t buy it. Similarly, if any of those ingredients isn’t something you might have in your own kitchen, don’t buy it. Molasses isn’t actually molasses.
Cook fresh food from scratch. As your grandmother used to say, Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.
I cured my IBS in two weeks after a life of misery where the emulsifiers emulsified my guts.
Just something that might help people like me.
Helen love this. This comment will help so many!! Thank you for the love and support❤️
Gut health is a very serious issue and colon cancer rates are rising among young people.
I believe many ideas in this article are helpful but a prioritization would be helpful for many as well.
For example, more fiber in the diet and chewing properly are key factors. At the same time, tongue scraping, a somewhat recent wellness trend, will likely not do too much.
I would recommend people to make small changes at a time to identify what really works for them.
In addition, seeking out a medical professional should be an obvious to-do if symptoms are persisting despite dietary changes.
100% agree, Martina—great points! Thank you for your support and ideas. Hope all is well! ❤️

Just curious In what way was fermented food life changing for you?
